Girl Scouts - nature activity possibilities

Opportunities at Howard Christensen Nature Center

 

The HCNC is a beautiful facility off of 17 mile road, west of Cedar Springs.  There are many opportunities to work on badges, hike on nature trails, etc.  Your children may have gone on field trips there; I know mine did. 

 

Family focused weekend activities You can take part in these activities at the Nature Center on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.  These are a few of their upcoming scheduled events.  But they have events every month, so you might want to check their website in the future. 

 

 

Birdhouse Building Workshop

Saturday, February 23             10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Build a birdhouse to donate, or to take home ($16-18). All materials provided. Snowshoe rental (weather permitting) and refreshments too.

 

Snowshoe Day

Saturday, March 8                   10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Snowshoe rental ($2) and refreshments available (minimum 6” snow – check website or call for updates).

 

Pancake Breakfast & Geocaching

Saturday, March 29                9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

All-you-can-eat breakfast benefits HCNC. The cost is adults - $5, children 12 to 4 years old - $3.50, children 3 and under - free.

 

Girl Scout Troop 1913 will teach you about geocaching. Snowshoe rental - weather permitting.  This event was moved to the 5th Saturday because of Easter Weekend.
