[leaders] Girl Scouts - Christmas tree at the GR Ford Museum

Leaders –

Vicky Manning has asked me to let you know that if you are making decorations for the Christmas tree, please call her at 874-4178 so that she knows what your troop is doing.  Her computer has crashed last week so please DO NOT send her emails about this project.

Also, the sun designed that will be used for garland on the tree is available on our website.  Use this link to access the design  http://www.rockfordgs.com/calendar/grf_sun.pdf  – print, copy, color and return to Vicky.

Thanks for all you do,

Beth Reedy

[leaders] Girl Scout - Leader Essentials Training

Leaders,

There have been a few questions about Leader Essentials Training.

If you are a NEW leader:  You need to take the New Leader Intro (1 hour), Basic Online Training (3 hours), and Leader Essentials (3 hours) trainings to be considered fully trained.  The class we are offering in Rockford is the class for Continuing Volunteers (2 hours) – it is different than the one you need to take.  Please consult the training guide for dates and times for the Leader Essentials classes being offered by Council at this time.

If you are a CONTINUING leader:  You need to take the Leader Essentials for Continuing Volunteer class (2 hours) BEFORE June, 2009.  This IS the course being offered in Rockford on October 28, 2008 from 6-8 in the Rockford High School Staff Dining Room.

Please call or email me if you would like to register for the class being offered here or if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Beth Reedy

[leaders] Girl Scout Leader training

Leaders –

As we were having our leaders’ meeting on Monday, this following training information from Council was being delivered to my email box.  So remember, I’m just the messenger.

”As of June, 2009, all adult volunteers (leaders) will be required to have completed the Leadership Essentials training class.”

So what does that mean?

1.       If you are a NEW leader:   this is the training course you will take as part of your initial trainings.  You are covered.

2.       If you are a RETURNING/CONTINUING leader:  you will need to complete this course by June, 2009.

a.       YES, even if you took your age-level training this summer, you need to take this course.

b.       YEW, even if your girls haven’t bridged, you need to take this course.

This is the course that we are offering in Rockford on October 28, 2008 at the RHS Staff Dining Rm from 6-8pm. The course is FREE so if you are available, this would be a great time to take the class.

If you’d like to get this training requirement out of the way, please call or email me to register.  Registrations due by October 25.

Thanks,

Beth Reedy
