Gold and Silver Info

Gold and Silver Award Updates

A Teen Awards packet will be coming out for all leaders in February.
This will provide more details on Award requirements, deadlines,
upcoming recognition ceremonies and other information. The deadline
for Silver and Gold Award final reports (in order to be recognized at
one of this year's ceremonies) is April 15th. Mark your calendar for
the following ceremony dates. The Teen Award Ceremonies will honor
those girls receiving their Silver Award, Ten Year Pin, Bridge to
Adults, as well as some special scholarships and honors. Girls may
attend whichever location is most convenient for them.

Teen Award Ceremony Thursday May 21st Camp Anna Behrens,
Greenville

Teen Award Ceremony Thursday May 28th Moss Ridge Golf Club,
Ravenna

A Gold Award Ceremony will be held for all Council Gold Award
recipients and their families at the Holiday Inn in Big Rapids on
Friday, June 12th.

Snowshoe day this Saturday

We have enough snow!! Our first Snowshoe Day will take place this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Other snowshoe days will take place on Jan. 24, Feb. 14 and 28...weather permitting.

Rental is $3 per person. Soup and hot drinks are also for sale. Snowshoes are one-size-fits-all (with a some larger snowshoes for larger adults). Children as young as 5 have tried it...it depends on the child's boot size and motivation!

Reservations for members (call ahead), others are first-come first-served. Park at either the first drive by the Welcome Center or the second drive by the Red Pine Center. Please beware...roads and walkways are icy. Visit www.kentconservation.org/hcnc for directions.

January Leader Meeting

GS History

1926 The Brown Book for Brown Owls is published - the first official
leader's guide to program for Brownie Girl Scouts.

1928 New uniforms of "Girl Scout green" practical material and design, are
adopted for Girl Scouts and adults to replace earlier Khaki uniforms.

1929 Total membership is over 200,000.
