On January 28^th, the Grand Rapids Catholic Committee on Scouting is presenting an INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS WORKSHOP to earn the Religious Activity Award for the International Awareness in the Catholic Church. This workshop is for all ages.

[leaders] 2010 Cookie Sales Training

Hi everyone!

If you were not able to make it to the January 11 cookie training at RUM Church, we are having another training January 18 at 7pm at RUM Church.  Your troop MUST complete the training to be eligible to sell cookies.  For those of you that did attend the training, I am NOT going to register your troop in ebudde until after 1/18 training so I can do all the troops at the same time.

I am pleased to announce that we do have another cookie co-manager. Many thanks to Susan Witte!

She and Jen Shook will be holding cookie training TONIGHT, Monday, January 11 at 7:00 pm at Rockford United Methodist Church.

If your troop wants to sell cookies, you MUST be trained. Each troop will need a troop leader AND a cookie parent to be trained (can be the same person). There will be an alternative training date, TBA. The cookie parent must be a registered Girl Scout and have a background check.

[leaders] Two important GS items

Leaders,

Two important things!

1) There is still room to sign up for the Beach Party Dance. Friday, January 22 from 6 - 8 pm at North Rockford Middle School. What could be better than a beach party on a day like today! Please sign up at the North Rockford Middle School drop box or at Beth Reedy's house. NOTE: Beth's email is currently down. Call her! If you sent her something, you need to call and confirm she got it.

2) Are you planning on selling cookies? Cookie training will be on Monday, January 11 at 7:00 pm at Rockford United Methodist Church IF AND ONLY IF WE GET ANOTHER COOKIE MANAGER. IF WE DON'T GET ANOTHER MANAGER, OUR SERVICE UNIT MAY OPT TO NOT SELL COOKIES! Jen Shook has graciously agreed to be a co-manager and has attended training. Sales start January 23.

However, this job needs more than one person. It is not fair to expect Jen to do this alone. If your troop is depending on cookie money, if your girls want to sell, if you have parents asking about sales, you know how important cookie sales are to Girl Scouts. If cookie sales help your troop, we need help from you. We NEED another volunteer from the Service Unit to make that commitment.

You do not have to be a leader. Maybe your cookie mom can set up to doing it for the Service Unit. Maybe your spouse/co-worker/neighbor is organized and good with people. Please contact me ASAP. If we get another manager, we can also offer an additional training time if Monday, Jan 11 does not work for you.

Happy New Year! Well, so much for New Year's resolutions of having the newsletter out early. I misunderstood Jane when she very clearly told me "I'm going out of town on the 29th and you have to have the info to me before then" and remembered "Oh yeah, Jane will be out of town until the 29th so get it to her after that."
