We have an excellent opportunity for a Fall Booth Sale next week. The Seidman Center at 139 Crofton SE, GR 49507 (Boys & Girls Club) is allowing troops to sell onsite 11 AM-5 PM, Monday-Wednesday, Dec.19-21. GSMISTS has already sent over a special flyer that will go home to parents about the sale.
Since booth sales are done- we are offering troops a special kickback of $2 per can of whatever is sold! You heard that right--- troops receive $2 for each can of nuts/candy that they sell! If your troop is looking to earn money- please contact me asap as these spots will go quickly. Whatever product doesn't sell- you can return to the GR Service Center.
If your troop is available over the holiday break for these days- contact me at: tmyers@gsmists.org or call 616-784-3341 x 142.
*You don't have to have sold fall product to be eligible for this opportunity!

Good Afternoon!
We started fall product deliveries today and I hope they continue to go relatively smoothly.
I wanted to let you all know that we have plenty of Fall Product left to sell at booth sales. So we are extending booth sales another week until Dec. 11.
Product can be picked up here at the Service Center and what doesn't sell can be returned.
Have leaders give me a call if interested.

RE: [leaders] September 12
See below for some local options. If you are willing to make it a Neighborhood event or want another troop to go along with you, please contact Lynn Surdock and she can help get the word out and assist with organizing it. It would be great to attend some of these local places. I have taken my troop when they were younger (now in 11th grade) and they have great memories.
Frederick Meijer Gardens
The scouting tradition emphasizes a love of nature, an appreciation of the arts, and a commitment to the good stewardship of the environment. Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park shares these values. Therefore, we are pleased to support the Girl and Boy Scouts of America through discounted admission rates and special programs.
All scout troops, packs and dens may enjoy our lowest admission rate: $3 per scout and scout leader, and $7 per additional adult. This rate is good throughout the year, and includes admission to all areas and exhibitions. Troups must pre-register to receive the special Scout Troup rate.
To register your Girl Scout troop, contact Julie Francke at jfrancke@meijergardens.org or 616-975-3145.
To register your Boy Scout troop, contact Suzie Doten at sdoten@meijergardens.org or 616-974-5239.
Girl Scout Programming includes:
Explore Christmas & Holiday Traditions Around the World
Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 12-4 pm
Meet the Butterflies -- and Caterpillars, too!
Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 12-4 pm
NEW - Earn a Meijer Gardens Patch!
Girl Scout troops will discover fun and surprising things about birds as they explore Meijer Gardens using our “Take Flight with Birds” guide and exploration sheet. Scouts will visit a variety of habitats, from the tropical conservatory to the wetlands, woods and farm garden as they search for birds and examine bird sculptures, too. Dress for the weather and allow three hours to complete the activities. Troops must pre-register.
Cost: $5 per scout, leaders free, additional adults $7 each. Cost includes all materials and a Meijer Gardens Patch.
For information on our current sculpture exhibitions and special horticultural displays visit meijergardens.org
- Questions or to register: Contact Julie Francke at jfrancke@meijergardens.org or 616-975-3145

Hello everyone to the 2011-2012 year of Rockford Scouting.
I just wanted to send a friendly reminder that we are coming onto the second Monday of the Month which is our usual meeting time. I did insert our meeting dates on the calendar section of the Rockford Girl Scout Web Page. Please encourage co-leaders and those active adult volunteers for the troop to attend. It might just make it easier in the long run.
Our meetings will begin at 6:55 and end at 7:55. For those who might have questions etc. I am still planning on being at the Rockford United Methodist Church (on Maple Street) around 6pm.
There have been changes at council to share as well as provide those leaders with the proper paperwork to begin the new calendar year and refresh those experience leaders. The leadership group is in need of help too.
One last thing, if you can bring any ideas for activities that our local service unit to support; that would "be a good thing" as Martha Stewart would say. If you are unable to added, please let me know so that I can arrange to get the information to you.
Thank you very much for your commitment to Scouting. Kathleen Bell
