Leaders,

I wanted to update you on some upcoming events.

Daisy Plush Pals

I decided not to try and reschedule as it was just too hectic.  The event is still April 20 at Parkside Elem, Room 111 (note new room) from 4:30 - 6 pm.  Cost is $12.  While the Butterfly Bears will be unavailable due to delay in shipping, Tina Zachow has offered us three other adorable stuffed animals: Monkey, Unicorn, or Vanilla Bear and will have pink or white t-shirts for the animals at no extra cost.  Please see the www.rockfordgs.com website for the new flyer with the new pictures. Registration deadline is April 11.

Brownie Make It, Eat It

Event is still on Monday April 18 at Our Lady of Consolation from 6 - 8 pm.  Cost is only $4.  Brownies will earn the Make It, eat It Try-it and the Senior Girl Scouts will complete their Sow What Journey book on their path to the Gold Award.  Registration deadline is April 11.  Please make sure to let us know about any food allergies.

Junior Art to Wear Badge

Event is on Tuesday May 10 at the Rockford Freshman Center Cafeteria from 6 - 8 pm.  Junior Cost is $5 and girls  will earn their Art to Wear Badge.  Girls should also bring a plain white t-shirt that they can be altered (cut, dyed, stenciled).  A boys or mans undershirt is great!  Registration deadline is May 2.

For all events, please bring donations of socks and underwear for the North Kent Service Center.

If your Daisy troop really wanted the Butterfly Bears, or any troop wants a fun and easy event, Tina Sachow is the workshop leader.   She is a Girl Scout Leader from Cedar Springs and is super nice.  Here is her contact information.  She will come to your troop.

Thanks,

[leaders] Re: Girl Scouts on WZZM 13 Today March 23

Reporter (forgot her name maybe Emily Barwacz) did an excellent job.  Lucky us; we had a little "Brownie magic" to help because of the school cancellation.  Emma LaPlante was a really hard worker, and it was nice she was interviewed.

[leaders] Fwd: Change in policy for troop proceeds and late parents

Please make note of they new late parent policy below.

Thanks,
Jen Shook

Greetings,

Last year our policy for troops with late parents was that the troop did not keep the proceeds for those boxes.  That policy is changed this year back to troops will receive all proceeds up front- even on boxes for which there is a balance owed by a parent.  The troop leader still needs to fill out an outstanding money report for the full amount owed.  But it will be better for the troops who will have all their proceeds, regardless if  a parent is late.

I was just able to change this the other day- so there are 2 pieces of information that went out in delivery packets with last year's policy on them.  This was the 'outstanding money report' and 'the care and handling of Girl Scout Money'.  I've included the updated pieces in an attachment- the only difference is I took the writing regarding troops not keeping their proceeds off.   If you are able to make leaders aware at delivery in the change.  This will also make payment time smoother since we will not have to take extra time to reconfigure troop proceeds.

Thank-you everyone!- I hope your delivery goes smoothly this week and please give me a call if you have any questions.

[leaders] Today is cookie pick up!!

Hi everyone,
Four volunteers are not able to help sort the cookies today and cancelled.  Please allow for extra time in case you have to get your own troop's cookies from the piles.  Please remember not to bring any young children, they have to stay in the vehicles.  If there are any Girl Scouts who are 6th grade or older wanted to help today because of no school (or adults), please contact Susan Witte at 433-6741.

Thanks!!

[leaders] Service Event Campout April 30 - May 1st

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the price dropped to $27 per girl and $16 per adult.

The $27 includes dinner, evening snack, breakfast, patch, 3 activities (select from the list) and group activities.

I hope this helps your troop to attend.  We need 100 folks for the price to stay like this and we assuming that will happen.

See you at Pine Ridge Camp!

Daisy Event - cost is $2.00 and includes, snack, crafts and patch.  They will participate in the opening ceremony and have an opportunity to exchange SWAPS.  We will let you know how many girls and troops are attending to help you figure out how many to make.  This event is run by Cadette girls.

Everything will be up on the website shortly.  I just sent it to Jane.  Any questions don't hesitate to ask Corie Ripple or Lynn Surdock.

[leaders] Cookie Pick-up March 23rd

Hi everyone,
I have attached the cookie pick-up day sign up sheet as well as the volunteer sheet for helping with the cookie sort.  We need more volunteers to help sort cookies, otherwise those who are picking them up will have to get their own from the piles rather than having their troops pile already ready for pick up.  Food and drinks will be provided.  Please email me if you can help on March 23.

Thanks!
