See below for some local options. If you are willing to make it a Neighborhood event or want another troop to go along with you, please contact Lynn Surdock and she can help get the word out and assist with organizing it. It would be great to attend some of these local places. I have taken my troop when they were younger (now in 11th grade) and they have great memories.
Frederick Meijer Gardens
The scouting tradition emphasizes a love of nature, an appreciation of the arts, and a commitment to the good stewardship of the environment. Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park shares these values. Therefore, we are pleased to support the Girl and Boy Scouts of America through discounted admission rates and special programs.
All scout troops, packs and dens may enjoy our lowest admission rate: $3 per scout and scout leader, and $7 per additional adult. This rate is good throughout the year, and includes admission to all areas and exhibitions. Troups must pre-register to receive the special Scout Troup rate.
To register your Girl Scout troop, contact Julie Francke at jfrancke@meijergardens.org or 616-975-3145.
To register your Boy Scout troop, contact Suzie Doten at sdoten@meijergardens.org or 616-974-5239.

Subject: [leaders] September 12
Hello everyone to the 2011-2012 year of Rockford Scouting.
I just wanted to send a friendly reminder that we are coming onto the second Monday of the Month which is our usual meeting time. I did insert our meeting dates on the calendar section of the Rockford Girl Scout Web Page. Please encourage co-leaders and those active adult volunteers for the troop to attend. It might just make it easier in the long run.
Our meetings will begin at 6:55 and end at 7:55. For those who might have questions etc. I am still planning on being at the Rockford United Methodist Church (on Maple Street) around 6pm.
There have been changes at council to share as well as provide those leaders with the proper paperwork to begin the new calendar year and refresh those experience leaders. The leadership group is in need of help too.
One last thing, if you can bring any ideas for activities that our local service unit to support; that would "be a good thing" as Martha Stewart would say. If you are unable to added, please let me know so that I can arrange to get the information to you.
Thank you very much for your commitment to Scouting. Kathleen Bell
