[Leaders] GS/ Rockford Santa Parade

The following is from the Chamber website:
The Chamber is ready to welcome the big man in red on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. Santa will be welcomed in downtown Rockford with a parade and then he will go to the Rotary Pavilion to listen to kids' wish lists. Also on hand will be Trolley Rides and kids activities in the pavilion. Free milk and cookies will be available, along with photos with Santa.

If you would like to be part of the Santa Parade, download the application and send in to the Chamber office. There will be a MANDATORY Safety Meeting at the Rockford United Methodist Church on Monday, November 12 at 6 p.m. It is only about a half-hour long, but is an important tool to keeping parade participants and children safe. The Rockford Police Department will be talking about safety rules. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE. If you cannot make it due to an emergency, be sure to contact a representative to be there for your company. Everyone will sign a registration sheet, your signature is proof that you were there.

The safety meeting is right before our Leader meeting, so make sure you or a parent from your troop attends (this person must be attending the parade with your troop). I've attached the registration form.  Please send it to the chamber prior to the safety meeting.  Rockford GS troops each register individually for the Holiday parade.

Merry Christmas!!!

Good Afternoon,

Attached is the event flyer for the Juliette Gordon Low Masquerade Ball on Saturday, October 27th from 2:00-4:00pm at Camp Anna Behrens.  I have had several questions about attire for that afternoon-We are encouraging girls (and adults!) to get dressed up as if they were going to a fancy ball. We will be making masks at the event, however, if you have a mask that you would like to wear, feel free to bring it!

If you have any more questions, please let me know.

Troop Camp Leadership I added at CAB

Hi Service Unit Directors/Service Teams,

Please share with your leaders that we've added a Troop Camp Leadership I at Camp Anna Behrens, Greenville, on Sat, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Fee is $10.  This class is required prior to taking troops camping.

The session will be held in Misty Pines Unit Shelter, a screen house structure with a fireplace - so it's cozy during class Dress for the weather (layers and appropriate outer gear and footwear) as participants will be walking back and forth from the Unit Shelter to the fire pit.   Participants will not be in a heated unit other than the fireplace in the unit shelter.

Get a jump on preparedness by taking this class now so you can take your troop camping in 2013!  Winter camping at Brinkert's Troop House at Camp Anna Behrens is a blast and easy as you can bring a plastic sled to slide your gear in the packed snow along the pathway.  This unit sleeps 12 on cots.  Brinkert's has a fireplace, kitchen and bathroom, along with a great sliding hill outside too!  You can roast marshmallows or make pie iron pizzas outside in the winter!  Or you can reserve ahead another spring/summer date and have already taken your training.

Register on eBiz under Enrichments at http://gsusa.ebiz.uapps.net/vp/AdultTrainingEvents.aspx

Re: [Leaders] October Meeting Minutes

There is a meeting on November 5th at the church across the street from council.  One of the items to be discussed is whether GSMISTS will put an additional charge on the Girl Scout registration Fee.  Girl Scouts USA passed a motion that allows then for each council to add a charge if desired.  My understanding is the Detroit area added $4 to the fee, so they pay $16.00.

Remember council holds meetings in various areas.  This is the one in our area.  You are welcome to attend any of them.

So those interested can attend and discuss this issue.
