[Leaders] Rockford Service Unit Update

I just wanted to send everyone an update on activities for the service unit:

Next meeting is APRIL 9-right after spring break.

GS celebration will occur at the April meeting.  Set up between 6 and 645pm.  I will keep the meeting short, but what a great opportunity for scouts to get a close up view.  If you have items which can be used for out Day Camp let Bev and Jessie D know. Maybe we can even have a visit by Ms. Low herself-what are your thoughts Sandy :)

May Camp- registration forms can be given to kristi Neil via her drop box.  There is a little glitch in that I have delivered the intent-to-event form to council twice and I learned that there is a different person who resides at the Traverse City Office I need to connect with.

Camp Training: I was asked if we could have camp training for Rockford leaders, in order to comply with safety etc.  the answer is no. There are too many training's already set via other locations. so for those leaders who have not had the training, maybe a registered volunteer parent could attend a training. That would keep things kosher OR you can register your troop members with another troop leader who is camp trained.  Just a thought.

Cookie Money: remember cookie money will be automatically withdrawn April 4. don't go to the negative balance. Also, if you have leaders who pick up additional boxes at council, those funds will be removed later in the month...sorry I can't remember the day.

Bridging: Amy Rademaker is planning on organizing this event for another year! She is planning on the week of May 24. Please plan on attending if you have a troop/girl who is bridging to another level OR have earned an award.  This is your chance to show the girls the pride there is in scouting.

Memorial Day Parade:Begin planning for attendance in the Memorial day parade. It would be sad to not have any girl scout.  Remember this does not have to be a troop thing. Just let me know who will be attending so that we can have adult volunteers.

I have contacted the city for more information on the start of summer parade.

[Leaders] Girl Scout Cookie Pickup Reminder

Remember cookie pickup is Thursday March 22 at the Plainfield Fire Station.  If you still don't have a pickup time scheduled, please contact Susan Witte (susanewitte@gmail.com).  If you're a troop leader and you're not sure whether your cookie person has a pickup time planned, please contact that cookie person.

The money for these cookies should be in your troop account by April 4, ahead of the bank sweep April 5.  If you're not sure how much money that is, take a look on ebudde, on the Sales Report tab.  If you're having trouble logging into ebudde, please contact Charlie Sears (searscf@gmail.com).

I'm sending this message via both ebudde and the Leaders list, in an attempt to get it to as many people as possible--apologies to those who get it twice.

Charlie

[Leaders] Cookies

One thing that would have been mentioned at the leader meeting is cookie orders.  We are doing great this year, I only had to chase one or two troops to get their orders.

Susan still needs a couple volunteers in the afternoon to help with cookie pickup.  If you can help, please let her know!

Also a few troops still need to sign up for times to pickup cookies--please see the message from Susan below, and if your troop is on the list please have your cookie person contact Susan for a time slot (contact information is at the bottom).

Thanks
Charlie

The following troops still need to sign up for cookie pick up.
 2731 3154 3366 3540 3548 3725 4095 4200 4220
If a troop doesn't sign up for a cookie pick up time, their cookie order may not be sorted when they arrive without a time.   Also, if they don't have a time, I don't know that they KNOW to pick up, and their cookies will be donated to the fire department as there is unfortunately no room to store the cookies.

Thanks
Susan

Subject: Cake Wars Reminders

For all participants of cake Wars, Tomorrow is the big day!  From 1-3pm, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin MarySchool Gym in Belmont.   Scouts and their guys will decorate cakes with the theme of 100 Years of Girl Scouting.  Cakes, icing, icing bags and tips, cake boards, and some sprinkles are all included.  Girls may bring accessories to decorate their cakes or their own supplies, like tips, spreader spatulas, etc.

Moms may come observe and cheer on the teams at 1:30.  This will allow for enough time to get registration completed and let the contestants get started!  In fact, if participants arrive a few minutes early, we will register them and this will help us stay on schedule.  Judging will begin around 2:00.

Don't forget to have the Girl Health History forms and Parent Permission forms filled out.  Health History Forms for the adult males will not be needed for this event.

See you Saturday!

[Leaders] March 12th Leader's Meeting - 100th Anniversary

Hello Leaders -
On March 12, 1912, Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled 18 girls from Savannah, Georgia, for the first Girl Scout meeting.  Since then, Girl Scouts has grown into the preeminent leadership development organization for girls.

As we approach our 100th Anniversary, we would like to recognize and celebrate this milestone with you at our next Leader's meeting on Monday, March 12th.

Let's share our memories of our own scouting days with each other.  Bring your memorabilia and/or memories to the meeting; old handbooks, photos, uniforms, camp crafts, fun memories - whatever you have - bring it all.   A Show & Tell will be held after the business meeting.

Come and enjoy some fun history - and a few cookies too.

** Girls are welcome to come and join the fun (probably around 8pm).  This should fulfills one of the requirements for earning the 100th Anniversary Patch.

** Information for your troop to earn the 100th Anniversary Patch will also be available at the meeting.

Hope to see you soon!

[Leaders] campout

Attached are the registration forms.  At this point we have lots of space so I am not concerned about the parent to child ratios being kept.  Please let me know if you haven’t sent the registration forms in but plan to.  Trying to get a good feel for how many we will have attending.

Excel spreadsheet has two tabs.

Great facility, staff and food.  Description of camp activities attached as well.
